FORT WORTH, TX, May 12, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ — A vibrant piece of automotive history has rolled into the spotlight at the DFW Car & Toy Museum: a beautifully refurbished 1974 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Coupe finished in eye-catching yellow. With classic lines, refined detailing, and a nod to Porsche performance, this air-cooled icon is now part of the esteemed Ron Sturgeon Collection.
Restored under previous ownership around 2016, the coupe is powered by a 1.6L flat-four engine paired with a four-speed manual transaxle, delivering a driving experience that’s equal parts spirited and nostalgic. While U. S.-spec 1974 models were produced without a rear seat, this car makes up for it with purposeful upgrades like a Porsche 917-style shift knob, front disc brakes, and rear drum brakes—all ideal for weekend cruising.
“This Karmann Ghia captures the heart of vintage motoring,” said Ron Sturgeon, collector and founder of the museum. “It’s elegant, approachable, and incredibly fun to drive. The Porsche touches just make it even cooler.”
Inside, the driver is greeted by a four-spoke steering wheel with the Wolfsburg crest and a cleanly laid-out VDO speedometer, fuel gauge, and Quartz-Zeit clock. The five-digit odometer reads 30,000 miles, underscoring its well-preserved status.
Visitors can experience this rare Karmann Ghia in person, surrounded by hundreds of other classic cars and vintage toys in one of Fort Worth’s most unique attractions.
