ATHOL, ID, June 03, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ — More than 100 young disc golfers ages 4 to 18 gathered at Farragut State Park on Saturday, May 30, for the Inland Northwest Junior’s Disc Golf Championship, a free youth-focused tournament designed to introduce and inspire the next generation of players.
Hosted at the renowned disc golf destination in northern Idaho, participants competed on Little Black Bear and a modified layout of Northstar. For many of the young athletes, the event marked their first experience in a tournament setting.
The championship was made possible through the support of title sponsor Mad Tree Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to growing the sport of disc golf and strengthening communities throughout the Inland Northwest.
The event provided young players of all skill levels with the opportunity to experience organized competition, learn the rules and etiquette of the game, build friendships, and enjoy a day of outdoor recreation. Every participant received a player’s pack filled with discs and other swag, enjoyed a free lunch, and competed for trophies in a welcoming, encouraging environment.
Tournament Director and a Mad Tree Foundation founding member, Andy Parkison, praised the volunteers, sponsors, and families who helped make the day a success.
“I can’t thank Mad Tree and all of you who came out to help enough! It was perfect!” said Parkison.
One of the event’s defining features was its commitment to accessibility. Participation, lunch, clinics, and player packs were offered completely free of charge thanks to the generosity of donors and sponsors, including Mad Tree Foundation. By removing financial barriers, the tournament created opportunities for more youth to experience sportsmanship, competition, outdoor activity, and community engagement.
“This event represents exactly what Mad Tree Foundation is all about,” said Parkison. “We want every child to have the opportunity to discover disc golf, build confidence, make friends, and enjoy healthy outdoor recreation regardless of their financial circumstances or experience level.”
The tournament welcomed everyone from first-time players to experienced junior competitors. Volunteer disc golfers accompanied every group to provide guidance, answer questions, assist with scoring, and ensure a positive learning experience. The emphasis throughout the day was on fun, encouragement, learning, and creating lasting memories.
Mad Tree Foundation’s sponsorship helped expand outreach efforts across the Inland Northwest, ensuring more families learned about and could participate in the event.
