If you love to eat well, then London is definitely the place for you, due to the sheer variety of dining establishments available to you.
No matter how long you live in the city, you’ll always be finding new places to try, no matter what your tastes and preferences.
It’s difficult to pin down recommendations because everybody likes something different, and while one place might be great for a date, it might not be the right place to take the family.
Regardless, we’re going to quickly run through some of London’s best restaurants, all of which are worth trying at least once.
Working Lunch – Bella Cosa, Canary Wharf
There are plenty of restaurants in the Canary Wharf area in which to grab a quick working lunch, but one of our favorites is this hidden gem of an Italian.
Split into two sections, a more relaxed downstairs area with a Chef’s Isle, where Chef Kentaro Torii prepares light bites right in front of you, and a true Italian fine dining experience on the upper floor.
There are also meeting rooms to hire out if you’d rather have a bit more privacy for a proper chat after lunch.
Dessert – Godiva Chocolate Café, Harrods
If you’re a bit of a chocoholic, then you absolutely have to check out Godiva. Whether it be truffles, fondues or drinks, they deal in everything chocolatey.
Situated within Harrods department store, it’s the perfect spot to wind down after an afternoon of shopping.
Sushi – Yashin, Kensington
London is full of great sushi places, but we’re recommending Yashin. Like in many Japanese sushi restaurants, instead of giving you your own soy sauce and wasabi, the chefs at Yashin carefully season each piece themselves to bring out certain qualities in it.
For example, they may blow-torch a fatty piece of salmon nigiri to bring out its flavorsome oils, before balancing it with some tangy ponzu jelly.
Fresh Produce – Bumpkin, Notting Hill
Bumpkin makes sure to only use fresh, British produce in all of their dishes with a seasonal menu.
If you really want to embrace the best of British, Bumpkin is the place for you, with uncluttered but well-sized portions, served up with beautiful presentation.
Steak – Foxlow, Various Locations
From the brains of the folks that brought the popular Hawksmoor chain of steakhouses, their new venture Foxlow is the place to head for meat lovers, with a restaurant for each of north, south, east and west London.
Slightly more chilled out than Hawksmoor, while the main focus is on steak, they have a selection of other options such as fish, salads, and puddings which will cater to everyone.
Tapas – El Pirata, Mayfair
For some of London’s best tapas, try El Pirata, if you can get a seat! The restaurant has a loyal customer base so you’ll probably have to book in advance to ensure you get in, but once you do, it’s totally worth it, with an excellent range of food and great service too.
